Car Alarms: Executive Keyless Entry System, keyless entry system, honda odyssey

Question
I just bought a 1999 Honda Odyssey. It had an alarm system wired previous, after market. Where I dono. After getting a "Check Engine" light, I took it to Honda and they showed me a disclaimer, in reference to a hot wire not connected right, could cause this. Anyway, it arms itself, after you shut the key off. Also, the setting of the alarm, triggers the check engine light. Also, as I decelerate, the downshift from 3rd to 2nd, triggers a "service engine" light, just briefly, at wich point the power is interupted for a second (it shuts the radio off) then resumes back as if nothing happened. Honda sent me to "Car Toys", and they had never heard of Omega Research and Developement Inc. But there solution was to put in a new system, but they didn't want to guarantee this would get rid of the electrical problems. Is there anyone that can work on these problems at minimal cost, or even under the warrantee, I purchased, so the onboard computer stops malfunctioning?  Or, should I buy a new one, from "Car Toys", or can this one be disconnected, without rendering my vehicle useless? Thanks for your time.

Answer
This alarm (OMEGA/Excalibur/Freedom/Crimeguard/Executive)
from www.caralarm.com is made in Douglasville Ga.,
and is also probably a remote starter
as well.

The only reason that a check engine light
coming on that I can think of is that one of the wires
on the ignition wires is off, or not connected, and
or, the Tach wire, or fuel injector wire is
sending the signal to the idiot light in the dash
telling it the rpm rate is wrong. This can/will
cause damage if left unattended.

Best solution is remove it and start over.
The "Car Toys" system, regardless of what it is,
will be preferable to what's in there now.

I am not a big fan of Excalibur (OMEGA Research)
but on the whole, if installed correctly,
would not be triggering the light. Best way to
discount it as the culprit is to remove it.
Then if the light is still on, Let Honda reset
it by computer.

As long as Car Toys does not overcharge for removal
and re install, I would opt for that solution.

Good luck with it, and let me
know which way you go with it.

Intersting.
