Car Alarms: Hyundai Elentra, hyundai elentra, hyundai elantra

Question
I have a 6 month old 2003 hyundai elantra 4-door with very little options.  It has power windows and door locks.  But there is no door lock switch/button... instead, if I lock the driver's side door, all the doors will lock and if I unlock it, all the doors will unlock.  If I lock the passenger side door, or any other door for that matter, only that door will lock.  Do I need an actuator for the driver's side door or something for the remote keyless entry to work?  Also, the car came with an alarm installed and it's worthless.  I've already had my aftermarket radio stolen and I've only owned the car 6 months.  How can I remove the old alarm without causing anything to malfunction?

Thank you.

Answer
Casey,
The answer to the first question is yes
you do need an actuator on the drivers door
to control all remotely. See the diagram
for that at www.relayhelp.com

On removing the alarm...my first question
is then "now what?" You will need a system
with keyless entry and alarm to drive the
actuator. I can supply you with all the things
you would need to retrofit the Elantra with
a great system and the door kit for under 130.

Go look at www.PAGINGALARM.com  and then add 10.
to that for a door lock actuator, and 10. for
2 relays required to drive the actuator.

I'll throw in a starter kill relay and socket
for free and you are done. This car is
easy to protect, and even easier to steal if left
unprotected. You can do it yourself with
some simple tools.

To just remove it though, I suggest getting
the wiring chart to reverse engineer the system
and restore the cars wiring. Have this "road map"
will help ID the wiring in the Elantra, and
guide your way. That way there's no hunt n peck)
(Free when you purchase equipment here.)

In either event, you need to do something soon
because the parts on that car are what they want now,
and of course what's in it too, but on the
black market, Hyundai parts are very popular these
days. Just a heads up from someone who "knows".

Good luck with it. If you want to
get the paging alarm I suggested and
all that's needed to do this right,
let me know and I'll square you away!
