Car Alarms: Alarm override on Jeep, jeep grand cherokee, side kick panel

Question
Is there any way to shut off my factory installed alarm once it starts on my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee? The only time I've heard it going off was when I used the panic button on the key ring to locate my vehicle in a parking lot and I couldn't shut it off.

You need to disable the alarm completely if malfunctioning.
If going of, you can put the key in the drivers door
lock switch, then turn all the way left first, then right
to turn it off, but this may not be enough.
You need to locate the factory disarm wire in the drivers side kick panel,
(FACTRY ALARM DISARM|purple/yellow (-))
and ground it to the body of the car.

In doing this, you will permanantly disarm the factory system
and should be able to always use the vehicle without
interuption.
