Car Alarms: nissan car alarm, car security system, nissan car

Question
I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work. I  phoned Nissan and would you believe one of the service techs told me he didn't know how to fix it and there isn't a code for the system to disengage it.  Now I know the thing can be disengaged bcz it wasn't on before when I bought it.  I also phoned the guy who I bought it from and he said basically what you did - turn everything off and press lock, unlock and lock from the key chain.  It didn't work. Is there anyone you can get me to who can help me with this.  Today, I shut off the car and was just sitting in it and it locked the door and activated the alarm.  With me inside.  This is really frustrating.

Question -
I recently bought a 2002 Nissan GLE.  I didn't realize it had a car alarm until my son played with my keychain with the automatic panic button thing on it and the buttons to auto unlock the doors and trunk.  Now the alarm has been engaged and goes off all the time.  Is there anyway I can shut this feature off - or disengage it.  It never did it before.  Usually, I just lock the doors and it made a beep and then I would unlock the door and just open them.  Now, it locks the doors once I shut them (which it never did) and engages the alarm.

Can you help me please.  I think you can tell I'm a female by reading this :)

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the button until
the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
resets the alarm system if it's an aftermarket system,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.

If this however an OEM NISSAN car security system,
you will need to contact your local Nissan dealer
to put the computer reset code in for you.
I am leaning though towards the idea yours is
an aftermarket system. Try the fix above to
see if I am correct.

Luck.

"female" does not mean stupid or, even
mechanicly challenged. Just means
you are not familiar with this product,
and need some help, as we all do from
time to time, Right?)

Answer
No I can't really add anything else to this.
If it's a Nissan system then they are the
ones who need to fix it (catch 22 I know)
But if it's an aftermarket system, I would
take it to a local CAR ALARM shop, and
see if they can ID it, and disable.

Best shot I guess at this point.
Does not really sound like a Nissan system because
of the "locking itself" episode. Sounds more
like an aftermarket system that is in panic mode.

Take it to the local aftermarket stereo/alarm
shop and spend a bit on an inspection.
They should be able to locate and help
you figure this out.

Can't hurt at this point.

Let me know what happens.
