Car Alarms: Stinger Alarm on 96 Jeep Cherokee, jeep cherokee, brain box

Question
I have just bought a 96 Cherokee that has had a stinger alarm on it.  The battery went down and
i think the alarm brain is preventing it from starting.  It appears that the fuel pump is not working.  Is this common with this type of system?

I am not familiar with alarms and am at a loss as to what to do to make sure this is my problem or if there is something else to look at.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Jerry

Answer
More then likely jerry, the alarm is
actually in alarmed mode. It probably is sending
a ground signal to the starter kill relay that was
installed on the truck. Look under the dash for
a button or switch that is not OEM equipment.
If found, this is the valet switch. If a button type,
turn on the key and hold the button for up to 6 seconds.
If nothing happens, then try again untill you can get
it to go into overide. If it's a switch type valet,
key in and on, then flip the switch in the opposite
direction. If there is an LED in your dash, it would
go on solid at this point as well. If it worked,
you can now start the vehicle.
If not, locate the brain box, and unplug it. Next,
find the YELLOW (STARTER) wire in the IGNITION switch harness (8 GUAGE WIRE)off of the key switch.

This is where you will find the starter kill relay that was installed. Cut it off, and re-attatch the yellow wire's 2 ends to original condition. Done.

Now you can start the car,
and replace the system with a good one.

Good hunting.
