Good morning, I purchased a 2000 Durango from an out of state dealer.  On the windows there is a tag that says "vehicle is equip with auto start" The product is "Avital" from Clifford electronics.  My problem is: is there any way or anything I can look for to see if this system is actually installed on this vehicle?  I obviously do not have the remote but before I go and have another system installed I'd like to try to determine if there's one already installed.
Answer -
Problematic. Unless you know which Avital is in the vehicle
getting remotes for it will be extrorinarily difficult.
To determine if it is indeed still up under the dash,
check the LED light in the dash to see if you have power.

If not on, then you would need to drop the underpanel bellow the steering column, and find the aftermaket
system.

If you need a decent one to replace it with
let me know.
Have a good day

Reply - Okay I'm interested, what's the installation difficulty?

Answer
Not really all that bad if you already
have the wires addressed under the dash
with the old AVITAL.

It's a matter of reverse engineering at this point.
What do you have in mind to replace it with?

Have a look on my site and let me know
if there is anything there you like. We'll
pick it up from there when I see what you want,
and compare it to the notes I have on the Durango
to make sure it will install well.
