Car Alarms: Troubling shooting a KE-30 Keyless Entry System, keyless entry system, ke30

Question
Thanks for your reply.
What a dissapointment as I took my time to hook it up only to find out it's got everything I need except the "trigger".
Funny thing,  it's advertised under the alarm section on the commando site.
Is there any thing I can do (besides returning it) to get it to trigger on the open door ?

Hi,

I just installed a keyless entry alarm system (comando KE-30) but can't get the horn to honk when a door is opened.

I have connected the constant 12V and the IGN 12V with a good ground.

The dome light comes on when a door is opened but the alarm stays in armed mode.  Even when I turn the ignition on,  it does'nt trigger.

Would you know what the problem could be ?
Answer -
The ke30 is only a keyless entry system,
not an alarm.
To honk the horn when you lock and unlock the doors would probably need a relay to make it happen and there is an output (-) on the KE30 to allow for that. But you MUST
use a relay.

There is no "TRIGGER" on this system since it is NOT an alarm.

Answer
Yeah, I wish there was better news here, but unfortunately
there is no way to turn it into an alarm. You should contact
Commando directly (800-780-1409)
to see if they will do anything for you,
but if past experience tells me anything,
you are SOL once it's been installed,
or attempted to be installed.

Most likely you would need to get another system if
you truely need a security system. I have many in stock
at reasonable prices if you want something sent out ASAP.
But for now, you have a decent keyless entry.

Maybe when you get an alarm, the KE30 would fit
to another car so you don't loose out. I can assist
in the installation of both if purchased here.

Sorry man but that's the news!

Good luck with it.
