Car Alarms: car alrm, vauxhall frontera, 12 volt

Question
Hi,
I have a vauxhall frontera 1993 estate. when I press alarm pod only drivers side indicators come on, also left hand indicators do not work plus alternator light comes on very dimly when using indicators. are these faults related to the car alarm do you think? your help would be appreciated.

Answer
Sorry I have no info on the car itself
as my data covers only US sold vehicles, but
what you describe sounds like a dying battery.
Many anomallies would pop up if the alternator is bad,
or the battery is not charging, and going bad.

I would also check the fuse or relay that controls
the drives side of the signal switch (parking lights)
In many Euro vehicles, the parking lights ar
a split circuit, meaning the alarm has to have
either 2 (+) parking light outputs, or 1 output
and the second created though an external
30 amp relay.

But my first inclination is to check the
power supply and 12 volt routing wires (alternator)
to see if the battery is charging correctly,
then repair if not. Once done, the alarm system
should act correctly.

Good luck with it.
