Car Stereos: 91 Maxima Bose system, bose system, nissan maxima

Hey I've got a 91' Nissan maxima with Bose system. I wanted to know if it would be better to buy the wire adapters for the HU and the speakers #to bypass the OEM bose amplifiers# or just to re-wire the entire system... which seems like quite a task.

Also slightly subjective. Is the difference in sound quality that noticeable between a 4x6 and a 4" round speaker?

Hi Mike,

If the Bose system is in good working order, you're better off tying into it.  When people bypass the factory amp in those vehicles, it's generally because part of it has failed, and replacing it is prohibitively expensive, or because they want to make it do more things than the system is capable of.

As for 4x6" and 4" speakers, that's all up for argument.  The general consensus (that some will argue), though, is that 4x6 might have better bass and be a bit louder, a 4" will generally sound cleaner and less distorted.
