Car Stereos: Rear Door Speaker in 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport, jeep grand cherokee, car stereo speakers

Question
Hi, recently my rear passenger-side door speaker has started to crackle and usually doesn't even produce sound. I also have a driver-side tweeter that is crackling, only when the bass hits, and I'm curious as to what speakers I should buy to replace the two broken ones (a simple plug-and-play install).

I own a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport that has the factory Infinity 6-Speaker Audio System. Everything is stock as far as I know.

Answer
Hi Morgan,

Unfortunately, I can't really be of much help.

I say this because what speakers you want to replace those ones with is entirely up to you, your budget, and your preferences.  There are literally hundreds of options.

What I can tell you is that your front tweeters aren't a standard size or mount, so you'll have to install something with a little rigging, or just pick up some new speakers from Jeep or a wrecker.

Your front doors are 6x9s, and your rear doors are 6 3/4", but you can make 6.5" fit just fine with a little finagling or with an adapter you can easily get on eBay/Crutchfield.  All of your speakers are standard 4ohm car stereo speakers, so go visit your local Best Buy, listen to some speakers, find some in your price range, and then go home and buy them on eBay because they're usually cheaper there. :)
