Car Stereos: 04 dodge durango stereo, durango stereo, dodge durango

I have an 04 Durango with the infinity sound system and a factory overhead dvd player.  My cd player hasn't worked since I bought it and there is no way to plug in my ipod so I want to know if I can have an aftermarket stereo installed without losing the dvd player or affect the infinity system.  Please help!!  I have no idea about stereos.

I have good news and I have bad news.

The good news, is you can do it.

The bad news is, it can be time consuming and/or expensive.

I'm not aware of any plug and play adapters, so you'd have to find someone at a local stereo shop that has done it before, and can tap the right wires and recommend the right deck that will have the right wires you need to be able to make it work.
