Car Stereos: stereo, power amp, stock power

i have a 2003 f150, i hooked up an aftermarket head unit as well as an amp and subs. the wiring harness i got did not utilize the stock power amp. my stereo turns off as soon as i turn the ignition off, without opening my door. stereo works great just wondering about the power??

Hi Shawn,

The aftermarket bypass harness you would have had to use is what's making it turn off when the truck is off -- that's how it's designed to work.  The 'on until you open the door' thing is lost when you install aftermarket hardware.
