Car Stereos: 06 Pontiac g6 gt stereo, pontiac g6, multimeter

Hi! My car has the monsoon 6 disc stereo with the 8 speakers and the monsoon factory amp. The radio functions properly but i have no sound coming out of the speakers. I have looked at the amp and it has no signs of wear or anything burnt and it is getting power to it. It hasn't blown any fuses and there was no crackling or popping sounds coming out of the speakers before it quit. Any suggestions?

Hi Ashley,

If you've tested with a multimeter to make sure that the amp is getting power, then you may be looking at a dead amp.  Electronics die all the time without any smell or pops or marks.

It's also possible that the outputs on the deck itself have died, or some wiring has failed.  Unfortunately, the only way to find that is with a multimeter, some trial and error, and maybe even testing with replacement parts.
