Car Stereos: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, pioneer cd player, hyundai tiburon

Question
Hey Justin... i've replaced the factory system in my hyundai with a pioneer cd player and everything seemed to be going pretty good for about 2 months and then one day i got in the car and the speakers started making some god-awful squelching sound... i can't imagine that every speaker just blew out at once... needless to say i took everything apart and even put the factory stereo back in and still the same.... i've heard so many say it's the factory amp but when i removed it i smelled it and it didn't give off the usual burnt -up smell most electronics give.... ieven removed the board from the housing and being very careful looked with a magnifiying glass and could'nt see any broken solder or loose connections.... could there be anything less obvious i'm missing or am i just plain ol' screwed?? is there something in the dash i'm missing.... sorry for the long question... just lost with no tunes and the iphone just isn't that great... thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Anthony,

Having them all do that at once would indeed suggest the amplifier has crapped itself.

Despite not being able to see anything, it's still possible there's a crack inside a transistor/capacitor.

When you reinstall, make sure that you have all the equipment that is recommended for your car to do an aftermarket stereo install, since I fear you may have hooked up high level outputs from the deck to what the amp expects are low level.
