Car Stereos: Rear Speakers, stock speakers, factory speakers

Question
I am replacing the factory rear speakers with Pioneer 3 way TS-A6963R, and I used the integration adapter to install the stereo, I know how to physically get the speakers into place but I just can't figure out the wiring, the stock speakers have 4 wires, 2 red and 2 black with red stripes. I don't know if there is anything else I need to purchase or if these speakers are not
compatible.

Sorry for not putting the make and model, its a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT and it has the monsoon audio system.

Answer
Hi Josh,

The factory speakers are self-amplified.  This means the wires supply the low-level signal, and power.  This means you can't really use standard speakers there.

Your alternative is to use an aftermarket deck with a built in amp and then run fresh wire to the speakers.
