Car Stereos: Powered sub install, infinity basslink, sebring lxi

Question
I have a 2001 Sebring LXI. I want to install an Infinity Basslink powered sub in the trunk. Can I tap off the rear speaker wires for the input? Also, where is a good place in the firewall to run the power wire through to attach it to the battery? Thanks

Answer
Hi Charlie,

This is a *really* late answer, but it just showed up in my pending questions list today, even though it wasn't there up until then.

So sorry about that.

If you still need an answer, here it is:

Yes, you can.  You will need either a high level output converter, or an amplifier that accepts high level inputs.  Then you just tap into your rear speaker wires, and run them to the converter/amp.

As for running the power wire through the firewall, I can't give you a specific position, but I can tell you I've never met a car that didn't have a hole that was way too big already, or just a piece of rubber where an option was missing I couldn't use.  Fish around down there; you'll find something for sure.

Good luck,
Justin
