Car Stereos: Stereo Installation, chevy tahoe, pink wire

Question
I just Installed a KD-HDR60 JVC Stereo in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe. I purchased the install kit & wiring kit. I have no sound after installing it. Why ?

Answer
Hi Bruce,

These vehicles are often equipped with a factory amplifier.  In this case, there's a wire that needs to be connected in order to activate the amp.

In addition to the main radio plug in your Tahoe, there may be a secondary 9-pin plug.  This is found in vehicles that are equipped with separate CD or cassette units, or in vehicles originally equipped with Onstar.  If you have the 9-pin plug, look for a pink wire.  This wire needs to be connected to the blue/white remote output wire in the JVC harness in order to turn on the factory amp.

Hope this helps!
