do this?

Answer
Hi John,

You can use a device called a line output converter to connect an after-market amplifier to a factory audio system.  The converter is meant to be attached to the factory speaker wiring; since you're installing an amplifier for a subwoofer, the logical place to connect the line output converter is at the factory subwoofer wires.  These should be accessible under the rear deck in the trunk.  The line output converter will take the high-level audio signal running to the factory subs, and change it to a low-level output that can be connected to the new amplifier using standard RCA cables.  It's not necessary to disconnect the factory speaker when you're connecting a line output converter.

Hope this helps!
