Car Stereos: Car Stereo will not turn on, antenna amplifier, jeep cherokee

Question
hi i just purchased a '94 jeep cherokee, the woman i purchased it from said that the stereo works but one of the back wires is unplugged so if i were to reconnect it i would have a working stereo.  I took apart the dash today and pulled out the stereo only to find that one small dark blue wire labeled:  power antenna/amplifier remote.  this small wire has a little black covering on the end of it.  Everything *as far as I can tell* is plugged in.  I am not sure what the problem is and why it is not turning on.  If you could help I would appreciate it.  I can also take/send pictures for you to see it.  Thanks

Answer
Allie,

The problem is probably a short inside the radio that needs to be repaired.  If one of the wires in the back ever touches a piece of metal, the inside wiring in the stereo gets a short.  Everything on the radio will work, but the sound will not.  If that is the case, you should pull the radio and have it bench tested at a local stereo shop.  Hope this helps, Scott
