Car Stereos: Ive got nothing!, 2002 chevy cavalier, chevy cavalier

Question
So I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier. A few years ago my little brother installed a Kenwood CD/Radio player into my car.  One day, I hit a bump, and my radio turned off, then turned back on.  The next day it was going off and on all day.  The day after that, it was just completely dead.  I took the face off, and there was just a black plastic plate behind it, covering everything.  I am assuming I knocked a wire loose when I hit the bump, do you think that's right? And how do I check to find out? Thank you!

Answer
Hi Liz,

You're almost certainly correct, although the loose wire I'd imagine would be somewhere behind the deck in the dash.

If the wires weren't connected securely enough, they can work themselves free.  The best way to connect the wires is to solder and heat shrink.  Your best bet is to remove the deck, and check all of the wires connecting it behind the dash.  I bet you'll find one not connected.
