Car Stereos: 2005 Yukon radio, yukon radio, yukon xl

I have a 2005 Yukon XL with a bose radio. It skips between stations and tape player even when controls aren't touched.It will also completely power off to where it shows 12:00. The steering wheel controls for the radio are messed up also. I replaced the radio with another Bose that was bought online. We had dealership program it, but it skips also. The dealership seems to think it is the radio. I think it has something to do with the wiring in the steering wheel. Could 2 radios really be having the same problems or could it be something else? Sure would appreciate some help.

You are correct in thinking there may be another problem.  You should be experiencing the same problem between two different radios.  My guess is that there is a short somewhere outside the radio, causing the radio to not perform correctly.  It is a pain to track down shorts, especially intermittent ones.  It probably is somewhere between the steering wheel controls and the radio.  Hope this helps, Scott
