Car Stereos: Pioneer avh-p5000dvd player, pioneer avh, audio playback

Question
i have a avh-p5000dvd player :
1) i get a beep/buzz sound in the background and it gets turned off only when the unit is switched off.

2) can i update / upgrade the software of the system, so that i can get better graphics, interface, etc.

3) i can play only audio files through usb/pendrive, i want to know how to play video files

Hi Pranay,

Sorry about the delay in answering this question.

1. It's hard to say what's causing the background noise; it's possible that there's a conflict between the head unit and a factory or after-market amplifier.  You might try disconnecting the vehicle speaker wires, and connect a single test speaker to see if you still hear the noise.  If you do, then chances are there's an internal defect in the head unit.

2. As far as I can tell, this model does not support firmware updates, so there's no way to upgrade the system.

3. Unfortunately, while this unit will support video playback from an Apple iPod, it only supports audio playback through the USB connection.  Only WMA, AAC, MP3 or WAV files are recognized.
