Car Stereos: Best amp for my situation.., ohm load, rockford fosgate

Question
Hello Scott,
My name is Bryan, I have been using Brian's expertise for my car audio problems and he has helped me identify my problem. I have a new one now, Lol. Let me just start by telling you the details. I hooked up a Boss CHAOSwired 1100m monoblock amp to a RockFord Fosgate P3S 10" shallow mount dvc 2ohm sub. I had the subs ohms down to a 1 ohm load which sounded really good to me! The amp I am using (the boss whatever) is only graded for a 2 ohm load so it kept going into protection. I went ahead and wired it for a 4 ohm load and ofcourse the sub was not near as powerful. There is still bass but i want it to hit with that 1 ohm kick! I mean this 4 hom set up barely hits any harder than my factory 6x9s! (I'm exaggerating of course) lol, but really the question i want to ask is......What amp would you recommend using so I can run this sub at a 1 ohm load safely and effectively? Also, the sub sounds wonderful but is there another sub that might sound better on this amp? Basically I have decided to replace the amp with something that will support this sub at a 1 ohm load or..... Get a sub that will sound better running at 4 or 2 ohms...I do want to stick with a 10" sub tho as to not compromise my trunk space.

Thanks
Bryan

Answer
Bryan,  The setup sounds great.  I can see your dissappointment in the lack of power compared to the 1 ohm setup.  Unfortunately, there is not an easy answer to the problem.  Either you unwire one of the voice coils and make it a 2 ohm system, which your amp can handle, or you get an amp that will put out the power you want at 4ohms.  Hope this helps, Scott

P.S.  You won't find an amp that is stable to 1 ohm into one channel.
