Car Stereos: car stereo...codes, step dad, code input

Question
My step dad changed the battery on my 99 s70 volvo and now my radio doesn't work. On the screen it says "code". How do I get that code so my radio and CD player will work again??

Answer
Hi,

Unfortunately, you'll probably need to talk to a dealer.  This is an extremely common issue in vehicles with anti-theft radio systems; when they lose power, they need to have a code input before they'll work again.  The code would have come with the original vehicle documentation, so if you have the original owner's manual and paperwork, you can look through it to see if it's been recorded anywhere.  If you can't find it, a dealer can certainly reset it for you; but they may charge for this service.

Hope this helps!
