Car Stereos: cd player in car, wiring error, best bet

i cannot play my cd player in the car,i keep getting a message which says code 1 error? i would be grateful for any help that you could give.thankyou.dws

Hi David,

Error codes aren't universal; each manufacturer will have its own set of codes for a particular product.  To find out what the error code is telling you, your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of the CD player, or check the "troubleshooting" section in the owner's manual.  However, it's pretty likely that the CD player needs repair.  I doubt that the problem is caused by a wiring error, or something in the settings menu; generally, if a CD player won't play a CD, there's an internal problem.  I've never seen a "cleaning CD" fix a problem like this either.

You can try resetting the head unit by disconnecting it from power for a few minutes.  Sometimes this will get a CD player working again, and it costs nothing to try.
