Car Stereos: Rb1 Nav Radio, radio antenna, mopar kit

Question
I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid with a RB1 Nav radio and the factory Uconnect system. I would like to install the Mopar factory Sirius satellite kit. Can you tell me how to install the Sirius kit ??

Answer
Hi William,

Sorry about the delay in answering this question.  Unfortunately, I haven't installed one of the Mopar satellite radio systems, and I couldn't find any specific instructions online.  The kit should consist of a satellite tuner, a separate external antenna, a cable from the antenna to the tuner, and a cable that connects the tuner to the port on the back of the head unit.  The wiring and connections, and removal of the RB1 radio, should be fairly simple.  The most difficult part is likely to be mounting the satellite radio antenna, and routing the cable to the vehicle's interior and to the tuner.

In an after-market Sirius system, the Sirius antenna is usually a magnetic mount type; the antenna cable is usually thin and flexible enough to tuck under the windshield and door weatherstrip, and route into the vehicle through a door opening.  However, I don't know if this is true of the antenna with the Mopar kit.  The catalog listing I saw for the Mopar Sirius system included a reference to a "permanent mount" antenna; this might mean that it's not a magnetic mount, and may require drilling an access hole.  However, since I don't have experience with this system, I can only guess at this part.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!
