Car Stereos: Subs, chrysler town and country, factory radios

Question
I have a chrysler town and country, the stereo model is 5269 425. I would like to know how i can hook up a sub if at all.

Answer
Hi Josh,

Sorry about the first "answer"; I accidentally clicked on the wrong link when I started to answer your question.

You can't connect a subwoofer directly to the factory radio, but you can connect an amplifier and use it to run a sub (or connect an amplified subwoofer--these are less common, but they're often specifically designed for use with factory radios).  The stock radio won't have RCA pre-amp outputs for use with after-market amplifiers, so you have two options:  you can pick an amplifier with a "high-level" or "speaker-level" input feature, or you can use a device called a line output converter.  In either case, you'll be tapping into the factory speaker wires to generate an audio signal for the amplifier.  The easiest place to connect to the speaker wires is at the factory radio harness, right behind the radio.

Hope this helps!
