Car Stereos: Line output converter, dodge ram 2500, line output converters

Question
I have a 2010 dodge ram 2500 and I recently added a sub and an amp. The problem seems to be with the LOC I can turn of the factory head unit and the sub will still play. I have tried adjusting the levels but no success.

Answer
Hi Toby,

I'm assuming the subwoofer works normally when the head unit is on.

I've run into this a few times when using line output converters with factory head units.  Often it can be fixed by adjusting the level controls on the LOC, but not always.  In this case, there's not likely to be a perfect solution.  You can install a switch on the amplifier's remote wire, so that you can manually switch the amplifier off when it's not in use.  Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to do this automatically in your vehicle, so that the amplifier turns off when you turn off the stock head unit.

Does the amplifier continue to make noise if you leave the head unit on, but turn the volume all the way down?  If not, then you might just turn down the volume, instead of turning the deck off entirely, when you don't want to listen.

Hope this helps!

Brian
