Car Stereos: 2000 Passat Cd player problem, vw passat, rectangular hole

Hello,  I have a 2000 VW Passat. My cd player does not work.  When I press the cd to play, it says No magazine.  Can you tell me what does that mean?  I took it the dealer and to examine the problem, is really expensive.  I did not want to pay alot to have the problem diagnosed, given my car is so old. Also, I wanted to know if you were aware of any car electrician or  a place that can have this problem looked at  in LA or Bellflower for a lesser price.

Carla, Perhaps there is a cd changer in the trunk and it has a big rectangular hole in it with nothing in it.  The cds are loaded into a magazine, and the magazine is loaded into changer.  If the magazine is missing, you will not be able to load cds into the changer.  You should be able to take your car to bestbuy or some other electronics store and they can tell you more about your problem.  Hope this helps, Scott
