How's it going? My son want's to ad a sub to his factory Monsoon set up. Is it poss. w/out adding an amp? What is the best set up? Any info would be great.
                    Thank You, Nick

Answer
Hi Nick,

You can add a sub to the factory Monsoon system, but you'll definitely need an amplifier.  The Monsoon amp isn't capable of driving a subwoofer itself, along with all the other stock speakers.

One option is an amplified subwoofer, which is basically just an enclosed subwoofer with a built-in amp.  This type of subwoofer is often designed specifically for use with factory audio, and they're easier to install than separate amplifier and subwoofer systems.  One of the best of this type is Infinity's Basslink.

If your son is looking for a lot more bass, though, he'll probably want a powerful mono amplifier and a dual 10" or dual 12" subwoofer set.  The Basslink works very well if you just want a more powerful low-end boost for normal music listening, but it's not made to be heard down the street.

Hope this helps!

Brian
