Car Stereos: Antenna Base, fender applications, antenna base

Question
The antenna off of my Toyota Celica broke off and part of the antenna is still in the base. The problem is the antenna base is rusted on my car and I need a new base. Do I need to purchase a Toyota base or one from the auto parts store??

Hi Kristina,

I'm not sure where the antenna is placed, on your Celica.  If it's mounted in the rear fender, to one side of the hatch, then a typical universal replacement antenna should work.  These are designed to fit into a 1" hole in the sheet metal, and they usually fit pretty well for rear fender applications.  If the stock antenna is on the front fender, or the roof, then you might need a specific Toyota replacement.
