Car Stereos: RX8 Speaker, factory radio, dear scott

Dear Scott,

            I read the problem a guy, Doros, asked about 10 months back about him having no sound from his speakers in the rx8. I have the same problem, BOSE system but i have no sound on my front Driver's door speakers. As mine came from Japan it had dvd gps in the back compartment which I tried to replace with a normal DVD mp3 player since replacing the normal factory radio is expensive and requires some modification. What I want to ask is: is this a wire shorting out, or is it possible I have affected the driver door speakers when fiddling with the DVD GPS in the back seat?

Constantinos, I would say that your problem is definitely a shorted wire to the front speakers.  Since you have had the rear unit opened up already, you may double check all connections and check for bare wires.  Otherwise, The wire is probably shorting in the drivers side door jam.  That hinge is the most moved point on the car, and the wires tend to wear thin around there.  Just find the bare spot and rewrap it with electrical tape, and it should work again.  If the problem is repaired and the speaker still does not work, the headunit may have been shorted out and may need repair, also.  Hope this helps, Scott
