Car Stereos: 2010 Toyota Corolla, line output converters, rca cables

Question
Is it possible to add an aftermarket amp and sub to the factory stereo and speakers?

Answer
Hi Jerry,

Yes, this can be done in just about any vehicle.   The factory radio won't have the low-level "RCA" outputs that you'll find on an after-market head unit, but you can connect the amplifier to the factory speaker wires instead.  Many amps have a "speaker-level" input option for this purpose; if your amplifier doesn't have the speaker-level inputs, then you can use a device called a line output converter.  This connects to the factory speaker wires, and converts the signal to a low-level output that can be connected to the amplifier using RCA cables.

Line output converters can be found at any car audio store.

Hope this helps!
