Car Stereos: 2005 Yukon Denali Radio Wiring, 2005 yukon denali, fuse box

Question
I have a 2005 Denali lux Bose with factory navigation and want to install a video interface for a backup camera.  Where can I find a wiring diagram for the radio to find a switched "hot" wire for the power conncection?

Answer
Hi,

You won't find a switched power wire in the radio harness--it doesn't exist in your vehicle.  The factory radio is controlled digitally through the vehicle's data bus system, rather than through an accessory power wire.

You can find a switched power wire in the key switch harness, under the steering column.  This will allow your video interface to turn on and off with the key, which should be sufficient for a backup camera; it won't share the "retained accessory power" feature of the factory radio, which keeps the radio on after the key is switched off until you open the door.  The key switch accessory power wire is a thick brown wire, and runs from the key switch to the back of the fuse box, to the left of the steering column.  If you tap into this wire, be sure to put a fuse on your new wire near the tap point.  This is so a short circuit on your accessory wire doesn't blow your vehicle's ignition fuse.

Hope this helps!
