Car Stereos: stereo issues, stereo issues, aftermarket stereo

My stereo has recently been acting extremely off. When i first start the truck up...the led screen comes on and off and then it seems to get all mixed up. After that clears up..if i try to turn the volume up it goes out of control and turns up all the way..then i have to turn it off all together for about 10 minutes. I've checked all the fuses and the wiring..nothing is out of order. Is it time to just get a new aftermarket Stereo?

Some of those issues can be caused by temperature.  I don't know your location, but if you live somewhere that has gotten particularly cold this time of year, it can cause the stereo to behave erratically (LCD slows to a crawl and looks all screwed up when it's cold, and potentiometers, which control volume knobs can read all out of whack.  If it's not cold, or the deck doesn't behave itself once the cab is nice an toasty, the it sounds like the electronics in your deck are on their way out, and it's likely time for replacement.
