Car Stereos: WIRING A SUB TO DIFFERENT OHMS, ohm load, resistance load

Question
I was wondering if you could tell me how I would wire 2 12 solobaric 4ohm subwoofer to 2ohms? I'm having troube finding an amp that matches my RMS powerhandling without spending an arm and a leg. Also I wanted to know how do I wire a 2Ohm sub to 1ohm. Thank you, you answers are greatly appreciated. ____Chris

Answer
To wire two subs into a 2 ohm load, you will need to run a positive and negative from your amplifier.  Then splice that wire into 2.  Connect one positive to one sub and the other positive to the other sub.  The the same with the negatives.  That will give your amp a 2 ohm load.  Subs are a given resistance load.  It does not change.  The only way to change resistance in a sub system is to combine subs in specific wiring to raise or lower the ohm load.  If the subs are daisy chained together (negative to positive, negative to positive, etc, back to amp negative), the system is multiplied by number of subs in system.  That is called series wiring.  If the subs are wired in parallel (all positives to amp positive, all negatives to amp negative), then you would divide there ohms by how many subs are in the system.  Hope this helps, Scott
