Car Stereos: Replacing speakers, factory speakers, power wires

Question
Hi, I'm about to replace my 2003 Maxima factory speakers with some Pioneers, a process which I'm familiar with because of work I had done on my previous car. However, I've never changed out speakers on a car with tweeters that are not built into the 6" speaker itself...Is there something I have to do to (or get for) the tweeters (which are built into the a-frame near the base of the windshield) or can I just install my new door speakers and leave them alone?

Answer
Joe, You should be able to just install the speakers in place of the old ones.  When you pull the plug on the OEM speakers, look and see if you have just the two wires or four wires.  If you have four wires, then two of them are going to the tweeters.  If you reattach them as the factory speaker was installed, then the seperate tweeter should work properly.  If you do not reattach the other two wires, and hook up the power wires, then the tweets on the A-pillar will not work any longer.  Hope this helps, Scott
