Car Stereos: subwoofer trouble, amp power, loose ground

Question
Hey Scott,

Everytime I turn on my car, I hear 2 low beat bumps from my subs, and then that is it, they don't work, so I have to open up my hood, and I take out the fuse out of the amp power cable running to my battery and then put it back in, and my subs work.  And when i turn off my car I hear the same 2 low beats.  So everytime I turn my car on I have to take out and put back in the fuse on the main power cable from amp to battery.

Thanks a lot,
Dallas

Answer
Dallas, It appears that your amp is having a fault on startup.  I would guess that it has something to do with the amp getting a sound signal before the power is switched on.  First, I would double check all connections and be sure they are all secure.  It could be as simple as a loose ground wire.  If all wires and connections have been checked, and the amp still faults out on startup; it may be time to remove the amp and have it tested somewhere.  Hope this helps, Scott
