Car Stereos: Car/truck am/fm cassette stereos, stereo hookup, car stereos

Question
Hi Scott. Sorry to be such a dummy but what do the terms "DN",
"Double DN" and "CG" stand for...in relation to replacement
used auto/truck stereos? And secondly, where could a guy
obtain a wiring diagram for just about any car/truck stereo
hookup? Thanks a lot for your help.  Armin Meyer

Answer
Armin,  DIN is the standard 2" thickness (height) of most car stereos.  Many auto manufacturers make odd sized radios for their cars.  These require different sized adapters or stereos to fill the hole.  Double DIN is 4" tall and "CG" (Chrysler,General Motors) is a 3" tall opening.  So, you can buy a radio that is the same size or smaller than the factory hole, then buy an adapter to fit the smaller unit to the hole.  Goto www.modifiedlife.com for wiring diagrams.  Hope this helps, Scott
