Car Stereos: CD Deck Turns on But there is No Sound, internal amplifier, clarion car

Question
So I'm trying to hook up my Clarion car audio deck to my car and it simply has no sound. Power turns on, reads cd's and everything. The wiring harnesses are hooked up correctly but no sound will come out of the speakers. I was wondering if you would know any way to help me out with this? Thanks

Answer
Kyle, Unfortunately, one of the most common problems with home installation is the lack of caution.  There are certain wires in the back of the radio that cannot touch certain things.  If the remote wire or antenna wire are left bare or have touched a ground point behind the radio, the internal amplifier gets shorted out.  The only thing that can fix the problem is to remove the unit and have it professionally repaired.  This sounds like your problem.  Nevertheless, the first check would be to remove the unit and have it checked at your local stereo shop.  If it is working properly, then you can go back to the car and start checking fuses, wiring, etc.  Hope this helps, Scott
