Car Stereos: jensen amw970 operation w/iPod, headphone jack, auxiliary function

Question
Brian
Saw your post on this for another RV'er who had problem with playlists.  My problem is different.  When I connect the iPod, the Jensen says "USB loading" and nothing else happens, even though left it in for 10 minutes.  The manual says that there AUX has AUX1, AUX2, AUX3 and iPod.  I only get AUX1-3.

NOTE: This unit will not play AUX from the iPod either, nor does it work AUX with my PC audio OUT.

Appreciate your thoughts!

Answer
Hi Ted,

While the AWM970 does have an option for iPod control, it's not compatible with the USB connector.  Instead, you need to purchase an optional accessory:  Jensen's JIPBCBL01 iPod cable, which connects to a special port on the back of the unit.  Here's the cable:

Similarly, the Auxiliary function is used with either the 3.5mm auxiliary port on the front of the unit, or the RCA auxiliary inputs on the rear.  The owner's manual is somewhat contradictory on whether the front AUX input is designated Aux 1 or Aux 3.  Either way, to use it you'd need a cable with a 3.5mm stereo "mini" plug on each end, connected to the iPod's headphone jack (or the stereo output from your PC's sound card).  If you have the cable connected, the iPod is playing, and you're not getting any sound, then you might try switching the Aux function between Aux 1 and Aux 3; if that doesn't work, then there may be a defect in the head unit.

Hope this helps!
