Car Stereos: Stereo Calibration, moonsoon stereo, pontiac grand am

I €jusy purchased a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE. The Moonsoon stereo system is having problems. Each time I turn the radio on it displays to "calibrate stereo". What does this mean? How is this performed? Thank you.

Hi Frank,

I haven't personally seen this issue, so I just have to go on a bit of research.  With the 2001 model year, the factory radio is connected into the vehicle's data bus system.  One result of this is that the radio is programmed to recognize the original vehicle.  If it's removed and placed into a different vehicle, it needs to be reprogrammed by a dealer to function properly.  I suspect that this is what you have in your Grand Am.  I don't know of any fix for this issue except a visit to a dealer.
