Car Stereos: 2001 ford tauras aftermarket wiring kit, 2001 ford tauras, installing a cd changer

Question
I bought a aftermarket kit to put in my girls 2001 ford tauras hooked everything up right but my issue is that the part of the wiring kit that runs to the trunk and plugs into the factory amp or whatever it is has a power and ground wire separate from everything else and there is no where to hook them in to or any extra wires to connect them to. I thought possibly for amp use but, Does anyone know what these two wires are supposed to connect to? I feel like an idiot cuz i don't know.

Answer
Hi,

I know the wires you're talking about, and you really don't need to connect them to anything. Because the wires are present in the factory amp plug, the kit manufacturer decided to place a couple of leads in those locations; but they aren't really meant to be used for anything during a typical head unit installation.  They might be useful if you were replacing the stock AM/FM antenna with an after-market power antenna; or installing a CD changer, satellite radio tuner, or another device that required a constant power source in the trunk.  They don't have enough current capacity for an after-market amplifier.

Hope this helps!
