Car Stereos: static noise w/ radio off, oem radio, static noise

I have a 04 Tahoe. There is static coming from rear door speakers at all times, with radio off or on. You can slightly hear the radio with volume full blast. Static noise stays the same no matter what. I suspected a bad radio but I tried another OEM radio, still same problem. I do not have on star or any after market equipment. It is equipped with factory premium sound so I think it has the built in amplifier. What do you think? Can it be the amplifier is bad? How can I fix this problem? Thanks

It sounds like a short in the speaker wire.  Probably at the door jam.  Get the speaker to start buzzing, then open that door.  If the noise does not stop, then wiggle the little rubber piece that is going between the door and truck in the jam.  That should cause your buzzing to start and stop.  If so, then you need to remove the rubber piece and repair the speaker wire where it has worn through.  Hope this helps, Scott
