Car Stereos: Amp, meaning something, power source

Question
i had everything professionally installed and about a year later i was listening to my system and i smelt something funny and my amp just switched to red light (meaning something was wrong) i checked the fuses on the amp and they were blown so i replaced them and it worked only on low volume once i turn it up it cuts to redlight again..its redlighted before but it was just a bad ground i checked this time and the ground is fine, what could this be?

Answer
Austin, there is something causing the amp to overheat with power.  It may be a bad connection to the power source (corrosion).  It may be a corroded ground (as you have already checked).  It could be a worn (shorted) lead to a speaker.  There are other things that may cause this, but these are the main three.  If all of these check out ok, you will need to just go through all of the wiring to find the problem area.  My guess is a speaker lead, or an internal short in the amp.  Hope this helps, Scott
