Answer
Hi Jeffery,

In most cases, you'll want to keep the LOC levels high, and the amp's gain low.  Start with the LOC levels at minimum.  Set the bass control on the head unit so it's flat.  Set the amp gain at its lowest point.

The sub frequency will determine where the higher frequencies will begin to be cut off; for example, if you set it for 100Hz, then the amp will begin to reduce the higher frequency output at that point.  This is so the subwoofer only plays bass.  You shouldn't be able to hear voices from the sub.  In most cases, you'll want to have this set between 60 and 100Hz.

Turn on the head unit, and adjust the volume to the highest point where your front and rear speakers still sound clean and undistorted.  If they start to distort at a volume level that's too low for your preferences, then you can try turning the bass down some more.

Now go to the line-output converter, and slowly adjust the levels higher until you can hear the subwoofer playing.  Carefully continue adjusting it until the sub is playing as loudly as you want it to play, or until it starts to sound distorted.  You may have to turn the line-output converter all the way up before you get to this point.

If the LOC is at maximum, and the sub isn't loud enough, then turn up the gain control on the amp. Listen carefully to the sub.  Adjust the gain until it's as loud as you'll ever want to hear it, or until it starts to sound strained or distorted.  If there's a bass boost control on the amp, then you can adjust it to get a more pronounced deep bass output, but you'll want to turn the amp gain control down a bit before turning up the bass boost.

Hope this helps!
