Car Stereos: Car Speakers, inch speakers, acura integra

Question
Dear Scott,

I drive an old 1990 Acura Integra LS.  As you might expect, some of the speakers in my car have blown.  I would like to replace the two front speakers in the car.  I think they are 6.5 inch speakers.  My question is really just what kind of speakers are decent, but kinda on the cheaper side.  I would like to have nice quality sound at higher levels, and I also like bass, but I do not want to buy any subs or amps or anything like that.  I don't really know anything about speakers so I was hoping you could help me.

Also, if I did buy a set of nice speakers, and within the next year or two I buy a new car, what are the chances of my speakers fitting into the new car?

Answer
Matt,  You can buy a set (2) of speakers for about $50 - $60.  I would suggest Alpine, Infinity, or Polk Audio.  Any of these are good performers and wont break the bank.  It is usually a good idea to leave the speakers in the car for the person you are selling it to.  You can buy new ones for your new ride, because there is no system to determine what size of speakers your next car will need.  Hope this helps, Scott
