Car Stereos: Volume button malfunction, eclipse avn 5435, avn 5435

Question
The volume button on my Eclipse AVN 5435 navigation head unit has spontaneously stopped working. It will always turn the volume down, however to get the volume up you have to jam the button a certain way and that has even stopped working. Is there any chance it could be repaired easily and without professional help (meaning w/o spending lots of $$$) or am I better off just buying a remote for the stupid thing.

Hi Ben,

This sort of thing happens with the turn dial volume controls on some units.  Unfortunately, fixing it is usually a costly proposition, as it requires actually finding and replacing the potentiometer on the circuit board.

I have a deck that did that once.  I just started using the remote for volume control.
