Car Stereos: Stereo install, infinity sound, empty holes

Question
I am trying to install a stereo on an 04 Dodge Ram using CR02B (Scosche stereo connector) and all wires are connected but the 12v constant wire (yellow). The Scosche adapter does not have a 12v constant wire so I have no idea what to connect it to. I can connect it to the Red 12V ignition wire and the radio works but it will not keep my settings because it's not constant.

Answer
Robert,

The CR02B adapter should have a yellow constant power wire (in fact, it should have two) so I'm not sure what's happened to yours.  The two yellow wires should occupy the two end positions on the plug, right next to the red and the blue/white wire.  Are these just empty locations in your harness, or is there another wire color occupying the spot?

At least one of these positions should match with a pink wire in the factory radio plug.  If there's another wire color in place of the yellow wire on your harness, you can probably just use that wire--the color doesn't matter, just the pin position.  If you have empty holes in the pin position, AND your truck is not equipped with the Infinity sound package, you might be able to pull the blue/white wire out of the harness, and move it over to the constant power position.  (In trucks without Infinity, the blue/white wire connection isn't required).  Another option is to just extend your new head unit's yellow power wire, and tap it into the pink wire in the factory plug.

Otherwise, you can purchase a replacement CR02B (or similar) wire harness.

Hope this helps!
