Car Stereos: skipping cd, converters, cd player

i have a 2001 kx8 jaguar

the cd player skips alot when i driving  i tried cleaning the head, i notice that older cd and ones that i make skip more

Ron, it is just an old player.  The earlier models like that were very susceptible to skipping.  Nowadays, they make better dampeners, better converters, and look ahead reading that delays about 4 or 5 seconds to make up for any misreads.  The only fix for your problem is cleaning the head, and since you have done that, the only other fix is to replace the radio with a newer model.  Hope this helps, Scott
